The two emergency rooms on the North Shore are facing closures due to lack of physician coverage.

The Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Collaborative Emergency Centre in Tatamgaouche will be closed until 2 p.m. July 14.

In Pugwash, the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital’s emergency centre will be closed until 8 p.m. July 14.

It will also be closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 15 through 17.

Overnight coverage (8 p.m. to 8 a.m.) at both centres will be available as usual thanks to the paramedic, registered nurse and oversight physician team.

Those experiencing a medical emergency should always call 911. General health concerns can also be directed to HealthLink where advice and information are available around the clock by simply dialing 811. The Mental Health Crisis Line operates 24/7 at 1-888-429-8167.

Anyone who is unclear about the availability of services may also contact the hospitals: Tatamagouche at 902-657-2382, and Pugwash at 902-243-2521 extension 1.
