TATAMAGOUCHE – The hospitals in both Tatamagouche and Pugwash will see the collaborative emergency centres closed over the next week.
In Tatamagouche, the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital’s emergency centre will be closed June 15 and June 16, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Pugwash’s North Cumberland emergency centre will be closed June 15, 4-8 p.m.; June 16, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; June 18, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; June 19, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; June 20, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; and June 21, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
The closures are both centres are necessary because no physician is available to provide coverage.
The department is OPEN during overnight hours (8 p.m.-8 a.m.) with coverage provided by the paramedic/registered nurse/oversight physician team.
Those experiencing a medical emergency should always call 911. General health concerns can also be directed to HealthLink 811 where advice and information are available around the clock by simply dialing 811. The Mental Health Crisis Line operates 24/7 at 1-888-429-8167.
The Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital will also see its x-ray services unavailable to the public on June 18. The Nova Scotia Health Authority says the day-long closure is necessary due to required maintenance on the diagnostic imaging equipment.
Regular x-ray services will resume on June 19.
