If there’s one thing Maritimers are known for, it’s for hosting a good Kitchen Party.
It will be no exception next month, as local potter Sara Bonnyman partners with the Lillian Fraser Hospital Auxiliary once again. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 6, Bonnyman’s studio on Maple Avenue will host the Kitchen Party, all while supporting the hospital auxiliary.
Bonnyman has been working with the auxiliary for about a decade now on the event, and, as in years previous, her famous Lumberjack mugs will be served up with homemade soup for $20 each. Wally Vaters will do the serving.
Bonnyman will demonstrate her craft and her studio will be open to visitors. Live entertainment will also be on site.
All the proceeds from the mugs, as well as all kinds of delicious homemade pies, will go to the hospital auxiliary in support of the newly-launched Healing Garden for patients at the hospital, their families, and hospital staff.
Children who visit Bonnyman while she’s working on the wheel will also have a chance to take home their own ball of clay, something Bonnyman has always promoted.
Bonnyman has been making pottery and operating as a business for more than four decades, making 30 to 40 pieces daily. Her studio is located at 326 Maple Ave., which is where the Kitchen Party will be held.
