Ten days have been tentatively set aside in September for a preliminary hearing for a man charged in the death of a Bayhead woman.

Ernie (Junior) Ross Duggan, 49, appeared in court in Truro via a video link, his right arm still in a sling. Duggan was charged with first-degree murder in the Sept. 17 death of the 59-year-old woman, as well as attempted murder for exchanging gunfire with police.

Duggan has yet to enter a plea to the charges.

Dave Mahoney, co-counsel with Stephanie Hillson on Duggan’s matter, addressed the court and said he and Hillson are still awaiting additional disclosure.

The weeks of Sept. 10 and 17, 2018, have been set aside for the preliminary hearing. A focus hearing has been set for Nov. 23, 2017, to confirm the dates and to provide an update as to additional disclosure.
