Canada Day will be a busy one in Pugwash this year, as the nation celebrates 150 years.

In Pugwash, the celebrations will include tall ships in port, the Gathering of the Clans festival, and Pugwash HarbourFest all in one.

The festivities will begin on Friday when the tall ships arrive with HarbourFest starting on the “Salt Shaker” compound on the salt mine whart. The midway will already be up and running in the municipal car park.

The traditional Canada Day and Gathering of the Clans activities will go ahead on July 1, while more HarbourFest activities continue on the wharf. Sunday will see more HarbourFest events such as the soap box derby and recycled cardboard box races. The ships are scheduled to leave on Sunday’s evening tide.

A meeting has been scheduled for April 20, 6 p.m., at Pugwash and District High School for residents to hear what has been planned. Ideas will be welcome on how to participate throughout the weekend. There will be door prizes and surprises.
