Enjoy the stunning beauty of the changing colours of the leaves on the beautiful Butter Trail during the ninth annual fun run set for Sept. 30.

The Butter Trail Run includes a 5K, 10K and one-mile run with this year’s new addition of a 3K untimed walk or run for participants that are not quite ready of the 5K. This event is all about having fun and enjoying the wonderful location, while encouraging healthy lifestyles for all ages.

The routes start and finish at the North Shore Recreation Centre, 30 Blair Ave., Tatamagouche, except for the 3K, which will begin with a drive (sign in by 9 a.m.) to Nelson Memorial Park to start the run there.

The Butter Trail Run is organized by our local Tatamagouche and Area Minor Hockey Association with all raised funds to be used to support this program.

Healthy snacks, awards and draw prizes will be available after the run, as well as bathrooms and shower facilities. Childcare services are available during the run.

The youth run takes place at 8:45 a.m. All ages are welcome; run, jog, or push a stroller.

The 3K, 5K, and 10K include a section of the Butter Trail, part of the Trans Canada Trail, then loops back to NSRC. All runs start at 9:30 a.m.

Online registration closes in September but anyone who has not registered is welcome to participate by registering the day of the event before 9 a.m.

This is an Atlantic Chip timed event.

Registration costs are; $35 for adults and $15 for youth 17 and under for 5 or 10K; 3K is $20 adults and $15 youth; older students’ day of race show your ID and only pay $20 and only $5 for children running the one miler. Red dry wear t-shirts in female and male styles are available for those running the 3, 5, or 10K.

There will also be the popular Heads and Tails draw at the run.
