Nova Scotia Music Week has found a home in the Truro and Colchester region for the next three years.
Music Nova Scotia, which hosts the annual music festival and conference, has reached a deal with the local host committee to keep the event in the Truro area for an extended stay. It was held in the area in both 2014 and 2016.
“Truro has been very successful for us,” said Scott Long, executive director of Music Nova Scotia, in a press release. “The central location, close proximity to the airport and venue infrastructure compliment the incredibly supportive residents and music fans in the Truro area. Hosting the event in Truro for the next three years allows us to concentrate on the next phase of strategic growth for the festival.”
This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the event. The dates for NSMW 2017, 2018 and 2019 are as follows:
NSMW 2017 – November 2-5
NSMW 2018 – November 1-4
NSMW 2019 – November 7-10
More announcements on venues, events and programming will be made in the coming weeks.
Music Nova Scotia estimates the music festival will attract more than 8,000 local and visiting music fans and result in more than $2 million in economic spin offs for the province with an approximate $1.5 million direct benefit to the host community.
