The Grace Jollymore Joyce Arts Centre stage will be a busy one this weekend, ending with a performance by Valdy on Sept. 30.

Valdy has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for more than 34 years. He’s a singer, guitarist, and songwriter who catches the small but telling moments that make up life.

Remembered for ‘Play Me a Rock and Roll Song’, Valdy has sold almost half a million copies of his 16 albums, has two Juno Awards (Folk Singer of the Year and Folk Entertainer of the Year), a total of seven Juno nominations and four Gold albums to his credit.

Valdy has claimed the Songwriter of the Year and CARAS awards in folk and bluegrass categories, and has won a Gold Ribbon Talent Development Award for his work as host of the BC Music Project, a music video show that featured BC artists.

He’s also had minor roles in two movie features, as well as a lead role on The Beachcombers.

He was invested as a member of the Order of Canada in July 2012.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at C.G. Fulton Pharmacy, at the Grace Jollymore Joyce Arts Centre, or online at www.gracejollymore.com. The performance begins at 3 p.m.
